There is a lot to talk about this week:
Lets start with the club championships – Robbie Main won the 36 Hole Qualifying scoring 66,71 and the RG Bunch Trophy; essentially the clubs Strokeplay championship. In the main event final, Alan Ker and Archie Finnie faced each other on a very blustery day. Alan triumphed with some fantastic golf and was -3 for the 30 holes played. Both players are a credit to our club and we have an extremely worthy and popular club champion for 2025.
We have a great bunch of talented juniors at this time; the perfect peer group to really bring them all on. Lewis Porteous beat Louis Arthur in the final this year. Both boys still have 2-3 years left as juniors.
Congratulations to Stephen Stuart who won the Sir Alex Fletcher (B Championship) final for the second year on the bounce, beating the indefatigable Ian Panton!
So we have 16 of us representing the club at Royal Blackheath in London this weekend. I finally got picked for a summer league match this evening, but have had to call off to attend the Garden Party at Holyrood as part of your captains duties. Lets just say that Mrs Yuille is really looking forward to it!!
The Invitation Sixomes on Saturday was won by Steven Walker & his partner Gareth Davies with 41 points. What an amazing atmosphere was present at the club all day. A special mention to all our catering and management staff who helped make it such a great day.
We halved our Society match with Mortonhall last week at the Burgess (3-3). My good friend John Cooper is the current captain at Mortonhall. Plenty of conversation over dinner; mainly wondering how it came to pass that both of us should be simultaneous captains of such prestigious golf clubs!!!
