Somerset win SW Women's Inter-Counties Week
Great praise for East Devon as hosts
Somerset are the SW Women's Inter-Counties Champions for 2025 after a thrilling three days of competition at East Devon this week.
The course was prepared to perfection by Paul and the team and the weather provided a variety of challenges to all - a three hour delay for fog on Monday morning, scorching heat on Tuesday and a strong, gusty wind on Wednesday.
Going into the final day Gloucestershire, Somerset and Dorset were tied with 3 match wins each, with Gloucestershire on top of the leader board on overall points so it was all to play for as Cornwall took on Somerset, Gloucestershire played Devon and Wiltshire played Dorset.
Somerset were crowned champions after Devon and Gloucestershire halved and Somerset won 5-0 against Cornwall.
A great week was had by all and everyone was full of praise for the Club and the efforts we had gone to to make the week a success. From the course set up, to the excellent food and drinks service provided in the clubhouse by Dani, James, Claire and the team, and the great work of the ball spotters - who were thanked by many players as they passed by.
The organisers, DevonGolf, and the Counties particularly appreciated that the members had given exclusive access to the course and locker rooms for the duration of the competition and thanked them for their generosity.
