Cameron of course is an Honorary member of the Society, the former Scottish Amateur champion, Scottish internationalist, and recent Links Trophy winner. Having just completed his 4 years at Northwestern University in the USA, we are keeping our fingers crossed that he will qualify for this years Walker Cup at Cypress Point before making his move into the professional ranks.
Jordan is one of our assistant professionals and has performed exceptionally well on the assistant and professional circuit in Scotland over the last couple of years. He is a serious talent and is planning to qualify for the DP World Tour later this year.
The RBGS council have agreed with Cameron and Jordan to adopt them as new ‘ambassadors’ for the Burgess and to that end have agreed that the Society will provide a clothing budget of £1,000 to each of them to wear RBGS crested garments at all events.
The Council have also agreed to provide Cameron with £3,000 donated from the Frank Johnston Memorial fund to assist with his funding of golf events over the next few months. This Trust fund was specifically set up to help with young golfers at the Society and this seems a perfect use of the funds in helping Cameron with his golfing career.
The journey into professional golf, particularly the early transition, is known to be the hardest. Not least because of the financial commitment required to allow them to compete without the huge stress associated with funding entries, travel and accommodation.
To that end, we have now set up 2 separate Just Giving sites, where should you wish to help with their respective funding you will be able to do so (there is the ability to do this anonymously).
We are hopeful that the Burgess membership will be generous and give these 2 outstanding young men a significant financial boost to their professional playing careers.
The details for these sites are as follows:
