COURSE NEWS 6th JULY
Club championship weekend
There wasn’t going to be much to write about this week, with the Course team focused on readying for Club championships weekend, but Nature stepped in to provide some interest - in our case early on Sunday morning, when the course got 13 mm of rain of which 11 mm fell in a deluge around 05:00. Inevitably the bunkers and greens flooded; the greens had cleared by the time the competition started but the bunkers will take longer to dry and the sand restored manually.

All the lads came in for an 05:15 start on both Saturday and Sunday to cover all the prepping work, which includes greens cut and rolled, new holes cut, bunkers serviced, etc. - the time sacrifice is a big ask of them, meaning most of them will not have a day off for up to 3 weeks.

On Friday the Stimp was 9’ 8”. It would have been at our target of 10’ on Saturday, but with all the rain early Sunday who knows? We were only able to cut - the roller was just pushing surface water around, causing compaction.

There was a very productive Course meeting on Friday. Of immediate note is a decision to carry out the annual hay harvest w/c 11 August, weather and farmer permitting. We also agreed to level and resurface 3 tees (13, 3, and 6), possibly plus a fourth, mid-October.
