Dermot Shields' Donegal Junior League continued the defence of their title this weekend as they took on Dunfanaghy away from home in the first leg. Portsalon managed to pick up one match on the road, with the return leg scheduled for Saturday 12th July at 2pm in Portsalon.
Ryan McGettigan's Barton Shield team played their Ulster quarter-final on Friday 4th July, also against Dunfanaghy, at Barnhill in Letterkenny. After a tense and hard fought evening, it was Dunfanaghy that won got the win.
In the Mixed Foursomes, Eamonn McConigley's side earned a fourth round win against Dunfanaghy by 3.5 matches to a half. At home, Jack Friel and Claire Ferry were 4&3 winners while Cathal Canning and Aedeen Conway won 6&5. Meanwhile in Dunfanaghy, Eamonn McConigley and Oonagh McCoy were 3&2 winners while Stephen Connolly & Deirdre Hensey picked up a half match.
Joe Hensey and his Donegal Seniors panel also advanced on Sunday after their second leg trip to Cruit Island. Shane McGee and DP Logue secured the all-important win with some key games still ongoing behind them on the course.

Ulster Women’s Interprovincial Trophy
Portsalon Golf Club’s Aoife Browne (0) has been warmly congratulated by Lady Captain, Roisin McCormack, and all members of the club following her team’s success on the 3rd July in recapturing the Interprovincial title in Knightsbrook last won by Ulster in 2023.
Aoife proved her selectors trust by winning all her matches, both foursomes and singles. Points were crucial, and it came down to the wire on the last day against Connacht. A delighted team captain Oonagh McClure paid tribute to the team for their resilience and hard work under what were tough conditions. Congratulations to the entire team and enjoy the celebrations!
