What's been happening
Dear member

Since the last newsletter we have been blessed with sunshine and heavy showers. The course almost transformed overnight last week, from digestive biscuit to green and defined once more. The fish in the pond were not the only ones sighing with relief.

As we move into September, the bulk of our major events have been played, it's once again been a fantastic year of competitive golf with some new names going onto the honours boards! Reminder to all those that have won men's, ladies, mixed, senior or junior major events, you will get a free ticket to the end of season presentation on Saturday 22nd November 2025.

As of tomorrow, Wednesday, work will begin on the 13th tee, it will be stripped of turf, made wider and longer and levelled properly as per the 14th & 18th tees, completed last winter. New suitable irrigation will be added and a hedge will also be added to stop people playing down the 5th/6th fairways from the 13th tee.
The hole will be played from the winter matt for the foreseeable future.

The greens have been small tine verti-drained today in order to relieve some of the compaction and allow moisture, air and light into the root zone.

Fraud Investigation - Update
The fraud investigation is almost at an end. The CPS have informed me this week that the case is concluded. Janine was found guilty on the 22nd August of Fraud by abuse of position. She received a two year prison sentence, suspended for two years. Ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work and undergo rehabilitation treatment for alcohol dependency.
There will be a proceeds of crime hearing on the 2nd February 2026, at which time we will learn how and when we are likely to receive the outstanding £50,000.
Janine has paid the club back £109,560.06 prior to her sentencing, which we learnt during the hearing was all of the proceeds from her divorce settlement.
We will keep you updated on the outstanding £50,000.

Seniors Section News
Last season the respective senior captains of The Millbrook and Collingtree Park GC in Northampton thought that whilst it was always great to play friendly games which had happened for many years, these games sometimes lacked a competitive edge. Whilst it’s always nice to win, how much better they thought, it would be to play for a trophy. So, it was decided that starting with the 2025 season our annual two-way matches would be played for a new trophy - the Collbrook Shield.

The first leg held on 24th June at The Millbrook, resulted in a convincing win for the home side 6.5 – 1.5. So Collingtree had to make up a lot of lost ground for the second leg, held on 5th August. However, despite their best efforts they were unable to do so winning with an insufficient margin. So The Millbrook were victorious with the overall score 9.5-6.5.
Well played Ian and his teams.
