A happy and Prosperous New Year lies ahead for all, I hope.
Mixed weather and conditions for the hardy winter golfers to cope with. The New Year competition in it’s new Shotgun start format, I think was a success (I would say that of course, winning the Scratch prize!) The main event was won by Ian McFarlane who wins the Stockbroker Cup.
The annual dinner is possibly our premier event of the year and I hope everyone present enjoyed the evening. Our main guest speaker, professional golfer Alastair Forsyth added something different to the evening and Stephen Glancy ‘performed’ admirably in his Toast to the City of Edinburgh. Next Year the golfer speaker theme continues. Gordon Sherry has already agreed to speak.
The Seniors AGM, has come and gone. Bill Mattocks takes over from Richard Holden as Captain of the Seniors Section. Many thanks to Richard for his considerable input over the last 2 years and Good luck to Bill!!!
Last Friday evening was the Society’s Burns Supper. It was great to see a really mixed crowd at the event. We try to make it as entertaining as possible and this year all our speakers and singer David McCallum, performed really well. Worthy of note, was our Greens Convenor, Malcolm Pennycott delivering the ‘Address to the Haggis’!
We have recently sent out a reminder of the change of date for the Society AGM. This is now to be held on FRIDAY 06 MARCH 2026 AT 6.30PM. As usual we would encourage all members to attend. There are some significant motions to vote on this year.
