This year’s Senior fixture was played on the morning of Thursday, 19th March in bright, dry, breezy conditions.
The team comprised of 20 players in a match play four-ball, betterball format, with team pairings drawn randomly on the day.
The match, as per custom, was played in a friendly and competitive spirit. The greens were running fast, a testing wind impacting club selection and shot shaping.
Margins were tight. The highest Royal Jersey winning score being Mark Smith and Tony Burt, who beat the La Moye pairing of George Kean and Tim Cartwright 3 & 2. The most impressive late surge to victory was by Kevin Mundy and Richard Corbett over Martin Hibbs and Mark Reynolds, from being three down with four to play, the Royal Jersey pairing clinched victory on the last hole. There were also two drawn matches, as further evidence to the closeness of the match.
An excellent meal with free wine for Royal members! Proved to be a great way to round off the day.
The return, annual trophy decider fixture, is scheduled for 22nd October 2026.
