Opening Day Information
2026 Season Update
The 2026 Season is not far away so just an update to get us up and running
Saturday 11th April 2026 our Opening Day competition goes live to book on Friday 27th March at 6pm on Howdidido - please see attached instructions on how to book. It is a Greensomes stableford - any combination , Men will be off yellow course and women and Juniors off the red course, the strokes will be taken from the red course stroke index.
Sunday 12th Club Stableford Competition - this is open to everyone, even if you do not have a handicap. It will be a non qualifying competition - it does not count for handicap purposes. It will also be free to enter. The new tee set up will be in operation - please see attached instruction sheet.
Remember and update your Howdidido App (which has a cost of £2.99) or you can log into www.howdidido.com and use the website for free.
2026 Course Update.
White Course will ONLY be in play on Thursdays, Weekends, Open Competitions for Competitions, General Play and Bounce games - Men only
Yellow Course will be in play for Competitions, General Play and Bounce Games, every day - Men only
Red Course will be in play for Competitions, General Play and Bounce Games every day for Women, Men and Juniors
If any women want to play the White Course or Yellow Course let me know and I can apply for a slope rating.
Drainage lines on the 2nd, 4th and 15th will be treated as "No Play Zones"
Preferred Lies will be in operation from the 11th April until the 30th April.
2026 Handicap Update
As of the 1st April 2026, Scottish Golf has now given clubs the flexibility when setting competition allowances for single competitions that count for handicap purposes, four-ball stroke-play competitions and stableford and VPar competitions played in counting conditions.
What does this all mean for you, the member playing in the weekly competitions? Well before when you entered the competitions you had your handicap index which was converted to a course handicap and then you were only given 95% of this for your playing handicap, now it is up to to us to what we give you for your playing handicap, we could reduce the allowance to 80 - 75%, we could leave it the same at 95% or we could increase the allowance to 100%, which would allow you to play with your course handicap.
From 12th April we are going with a 100% allowance - you get your full course handicap to play in the competitions.

Saturday 11th April - How to Enter
Entries Go Live at 6pm on 27th March 2026
The captains are teeing off at 12noon.
To enter this year’s Opening Day Competition - the format is any combination
Greensomes - we are again using the timesheet on Howdidido. Just for this
competition only, all the others you will enter using BRS as normal.
To enter you need to
1. Open the Howdidido App or log onto www.howdidido.com
2. Look for at Section headed "Booking" on the front screen. Press on this and it will
take you to the booking screen.
3. Scroll down until you come to "Bookable Competitions", you will find Opening Day
listed.
4. Press on "Open Start Sheet". this will take you a start sheet.
5. Select what tee you want to start and press on "BOOK”.
6 Follow the instructions carefully.
7 Once you have saved your booking, refresh the page and you should now be listed
on the tee sheet.
If all the tees are filled then we will double up on some of them.

CLUB STABLEFORD COMPETITIONS
A gentle start to the new season!
Sunday 12th April 2026
This is open to Men, Ladies & Juniors with or without a handicap – If you do not have a WHS Handicap Index you
can still play in the competition – see at the bottom for instructions.
How To Enter: Please book a tee time on BRS – No restriction to when you play.
Format: 18- or 9-Hole Stableford Competition – Non-Qualifying (Does Not Count for Handicap)
Handicap Limit: No Limit
Handicap Allowances: 100% for both formats.
Competition Charges: No Charges – this is a free to enter competition.
Courses Available: For both formats - Men – White, Yellow or Red. Women & Juniors – Red.
You cannot start on one course and change to another, e.g. if you start on the white course, you must play that
course for the whole round.
For men and junior boys playing off the red course please use the stroke index for the men’s white and yellow
course.
How to Sign In: Sign In on the terminal in the hallway – Please take care and enter the correct competition and
what course you are going to be playing.
Please fill in the top of your scorecard with the correct information - Name, date, competition, please tick
which course you are playing – white, yellow or red, fill in your handicap index, course handicap and playing
handicap, these will be on the screen when you sign in.
When returning your scores at the end of your round, please take care and enter them in the correct
competition and course you signed into at the start. Please put card in the card safe.
Non WHS Handicap Players
Book a tee time on BRS
Sign in on the sign in sheet provided, fill in the top of the scorecard with your name and tick which course you
are playing.
Fill in your score for each hole you complete and at the end of the round just put it in the card safe and I will
work out your scores at the end of the competition.
REMEMBER IF YOU ARE HAVING A BAD HOLE YOU CAN PICK UP ON THAT HOLE AND CONTINUE TO THE NEXT.
If you have any problems, please fill in the problem sheet which is on the clipboard under the trophy cabinet.
