In memory of Paul Eaton
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our friend and fellow member, Paul Eaton.
Paul was one of the most sociable and well-known faces around Mersey Valley. A passionate golfer, he loved the unique atmosphere of the club where he could simply turn up, join a game, and spend time with members old and new. For Paul, golf was never just about the game itself—it was about the friendships, conversations, and sense of community that came with it. Anyone who knew Paul will remember how he would stop and chat with anyone, whether he had known them for years or had only just met them. He had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome and was always happy to talk about golf, share a story, or discuss the fortunes of his beloved Everton Football Club. When health issues eventually prevented Paul from playing, his love for the club and its members didn’t fade. He remained a familiar sight around Mersey Valley, often driving a buggy around the course to catch up with friends while they played. And if he wasn’t out on the course, there was every chance you would find him in the clubhouse, enjoying a drink and a conversation with fellow members. Paul’s friendship, warmth, and enthusiasm for club life made him a valued part of the Mersey Valley family. He represented everything that makes our club special—a love of golf, a welcoming spirit, and a genuine enjoyment of spending time with others. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him, but the memories he created and the friendships he built will remain with us for many years to come. On behalf of everyone at Mersey Valley, we extend our sincere condolences to Paul’s family and friends during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Paul. You will always be remembered as one of the true characters and great friends of our club.
