Vets Trophy
16th June
The damp weather saw a reduced number of entries for June’s with only 30 players venturing out. However, as it turned out, the weather wasn’t as bad as forecast and conditions were unusually benign for Harburn with no wind and only an occasional drizzle. And a couple of players managed to take full advantage of the conditions with Kevin Cogan and Robert Smith both shooting an impressive 39 points. Kevin took the honours on the day on a count-back. Impressive shooting also from Grant Hawthorne with two gross 37’s for a scratch 74 (net 69) and 37 points for 3rd place. 4 players had birdie 2’s, which will win them a sleeve of balls at the end of the season, well done to Kevin Cogan, Brian Connelly, Ronnie Stuart and Alistair Hutson. We’ve now got a few players with 3 rounds played from 3 opportunities and the top of the leaderboard is shaping up nicely. Robert Smith stands at the top of the overall board with scores of 38,29,39 for 106 points. Hard on his heels with 31,35,39 for 105 points is today’s winner Kevin Cogan and just a few points behind on 101 is Gordon More. We’re only half way through the comp having played 3 from 6 rounds, so there’s plenty of opportunities to catch them. Well done to all players today. And we’ll finish on a wee reminder…scores MUST be entered both electronically and by placing your signed card in the box after you’ve entered your score in the computer. We came within a whisker of a disqualification today.
