A New Major Comp for LGC
June 2026 has seen the first staging of the LGC Memorial Trophy with Jack Fossey the first member to win this prestigious event.
With a fine round of 87 net 62, Jack Fossey will have his name on a new Majors board within the LGC Clubhouse. Making the turn with 13 shots in-hand off his 25 playing handicap, only five shots were used and a notable birdie at the last hole capped off one of Jack's best competitive golfing performances. The new Major has been embraced by member Jai Vaudin, founder of Vaudin's Funeral Services who with Bordage Monumental Works will look to support this competition for years to come. The trophy itself represents the care and fondness Jai has for the event. Handcrafted by Jai and his team, the trophy features four gold-leafed Martello towers, mounted on a granite club crest with an encased No1 Titleist golf ball and all on a wooden base made from timber recovered from the wreck of the Prosperity that sank off our local shores in the 1970's. Sincere thanks goes to Jai and all his team and congratulations to Jack in carding a Major Win.
