Daniel Shields wins John Sweeney Memorial Daniel Shields was the deserving winner of the John Sweeney Memorial at Portsalon on Saturday. A strong breeze made for tough conditions throughout the round but Daniel was able to keep mistakes to a minimum and boosted his card with birdies at the 5th and 11th holes. A triple bogey at the 12th was the only blip on his card, but he came home with three pars and three bogeys on the closing stretch to win by two shots from fellow Milford man Cathal Toland, who carded a very steady round. The gross winner on the day was Seamus Conner, with an excellent 74 that included four birdies on the back nine.
