GARDENING GROUP
JULY…. SUN, FLOWERS AND WATERING CANS!
The Gardening Group have been very busy this last month. The hot weather has meant lots of watering around the course and clubhouse. A volunteer daily watering rota was set up and thanks to all the ladies who quickly offered their services. We are delighted with our front gate display now that our newly planted hydrangeas are in full bloom. This area was watered using the barrel at the front gate which was kept filled by the hard-working course staff. Next on our schedule was the front door area, the newly planted flowers at the carpark entrance and the rose bed beside the 9B green. We used the tap at the clubhouse for this job. Finally, we had to water the 4A/9B tee area twice weekly, using the tap at the course toilets. So, all in all, lots of watering cans and muscle in use!
Last week, we also did a huge tidy-up of the flower bed at the back of the 3C green. See before and after photos
3A before 3A after. Our payment for this work was the discovery of a variety of golf balls! The bed to the right of 9B tee was also tidied up.
Last night we tackled the flower beds at the 1C tee boxes and also cleared the fence of copious amounts of ivy! Even the steps were given a major clean and now look green again! See Photo of

Thanks to all the Gardening Group Ladies who have generously given of their time over the last month. Hopefully, we are doing our bit to keep our surrounds looking a bit more beautiful!

P.S. Could we remind members to return their divot bags to the divot bag stands. Here is a selection of abandoned divot bags found around the car park and front door area!

INTER CLUB
‘Only four more sleeps’ – the countdown is on to the biggest match of the summer - so far!
The Pierce Purcell North Leinster Final against Castleknock is on this Bank Holiday Monday 3rd August teeing off at 14:50.
Portmarnock, Corrstown, Killeen Castle, Deer Park and Sutton have all tried and failed to halt the Black Bush juggernaut.
Over the previous five rounds, the strength and depth of the panel have been evident as a different team has played in every match. Fourteen players in nine different pairings have featured on the path to the final.
This meant that managers Liam McKay and Derek Keogh had a tough task in selecting the team for the final but safe in the knowledge that whoever was picked, the whole squad would be fully behind the team.
So, with practice rounds completed and with careful consideration while burning the midnight oil, the following pairs have been selected to do battle on Monday:
Daniel O’Meara/Dylan Wray, Don McLoughlin/Denis Murphy, Darren Molloy/Seamus Cowman and Con Duignan/Tom Foran. Subs: Scott Crawford/Robbie Donohoe and Wayne Enright/Sean Conheady.
We wish the team and managers all the best on Monday and we hope to see lots of supporters in Ashbourne wearing their club colours.
Other date for the diary: Sunday 9th August – Leinster Fourball v Ardee 14:30 - more on this next week.
