Tom Foreman crowned Club Champion.
Tom Foreman wins by 8 shots from Toby Morrall.
Tom Foreman produced a masterly display of golf over the weekend to capture his first club championship at ESN. He was the only player to break par, which he did in both rounds with 71-69 for a -4 total. The firm fairways and fast greens proved to difficult for all the players expect Tom, his first round 71, -1 led by 3 shots from Mark Robertson +2, 74 with Toby Morrall a further shot back on +3, 75. The weather was perfect again for round 2 as the leaders set out, one eye on each other and the odd glance at the leaderboard for challenges behind, but these never materialised as the players struggled to cope with the firm conditions. Toby Morrall threw down an early challenge when he eagled the 2nd , but Tom responded with a birdie of his own and when he birdied the 9th to turn in -3 for the Championship, he had one hand of the trophy. A bogey on the 13th was his own blemish on a brilliant performance and he is a worthy champion. Toby Morrall finished on 148 to claim 2nd place with Dean Plant finishing 3rd on 150. The Silver Cup for the handicap prize was a much closer contest with 3 players leading on 69 in round 1. Jason Eede set the club house lead on 142 (72 -70 )with Simon Blakeney on 144 (69-75) and then had an anxious wait to see if he would be caught. Tom Forman then posted the same score of 140 (72-70) , a card countback was required to separate the players with Tom coming out on top. 87 players played in round 1 with 75 playing in round 2, congratulations to Tom Foreman and all the prize winners listed below.
