Relief from aeration holes on greens
Local Rule in place from Saturday 12th Sept 2026
Following the hollow tining work that has taken place on the greens over the last week or so, the following temporary local rule will come into immediate effect:
If a player's ball lies in or touches an aeration hole on the Putting Green, the player may take relief under Rule 16.1d. But interference does not exist if the aeration hole only interferes with the player's stance or area of intended swing or, is on the player's line of play.
In practice what this means is that if your ball finishes in an aeration hole on the green, you may move it out of the hole to the side before taking your putt
