Sunday 13th September saw the Hinksey Heights "Ryder Cup" mixed competition take place with England challenging the Rest of the World . 23 intrepid players took part in the challenge, 4 of whom were from the women's section. The day started pleasantly warm with a gentle breeze but the weather soon took a turn for the worse becoming an extremely wet morning. Wet weather gear and umbrellas were quickly put to good use but our players carried on undaunted. It was good to see the course changing with the recent rain we have had . The fairways now have lush green grass and the ball is beginning to stop rather than fly and bounce its way along the fairways. The greens have recently been fertilised and are beginning to look very healthy. After a hard fought contest the final result saw England victorious winning 3 and a half to 2 and a half . The winners were rewarded with a sleeve of balls each, some white, some green !! Thanks to Chris Thornett for handing out the prizes And of course the final honour goes to England whose name will be engraved on the cup . Well done to everyone who took part. It was especially pleasing to see Otis Baker (aged 12) play with his dad, and congratulations to the winning team.
