On Monday, Longcliffe hosted Whittington Heath for the second leg of the Past Captains’ match. As usual when these two teams meet, it was a hard-fought and closely contested game.
With Longcliffe trailing 2–3, everything came down to the final match. Fortunately, Longcliffe won the last match, making the second leg a 3–3 draw.
However, the match is played over two legs, and Longcliffe had taken a one-shot lead in the first leg. The 3–3 draw in the second leg therefore meant that Longcliffe retained their overall one-shot advantage and won the Friendship Trophy back from Whittington Heath.
This leaves the Longcliffe Past Captains undefeated for the year, with three wins and one halved match.
