Fellas, The annual Vice Captain's Challenge once again lived up to its reputation for being one of the most entertaining and bewildering formats of the golfing calendar. While the golf itself was of a high standard, the real challenge for some appeared to be reading and following the competition instructions! Competitors were tasked with completing the card in the unique format laid out by the Vice Captain and myself in the Gents info format guide, including correctly marking the card. A particular point of note was the requirement on holes 7 to 12, where players were instructed to record the WORST score only. Despite this being within the comp format, an awful lot cards required review where alternative scores, both, or even what appeared to be hopeful estimates had found their way onto the card! Thankfully, after the customary post-round scorecard inspection and a little detective work from myself, the final results were confirmed. The format produced some excellent scoring, with several pairs separated by the narrowest of margins. A quick note, when the stickers on cards are added with players names. Please be aware that the top player is always the player to go into column A and the bottom player column B on the card. I know the computer was having a paddy, but some that managed to enter scores, entered both scores for holes 7-12. Therefore taking your best score, when only the worst score was supposed to go on the card and into the score entry. Hopefully next time things go a little easier men.
