Preferred Lie
With effect from 14 October until further notice, preferred lies
are introduced in accordance with Model Local Rule E-3
When any part of a player's ball touches part of the general area cut to fairway height or less, the player may take free relief ONCE by lifting, cleaning and placing the original ball within 6 inches, not nearer the hole, and playing it from this relief area.
Once the ball has been set down and the player has let the ball go, the ball is in play. It cannot be placed again.
