Gents Winter League 2026/27
Important Competition Update
Dear Members, Following feedback from members, we have reviewed our previous decision regarding Gents Winter League medals and their impact on handicaps. As a result, Winter League medals will no longer be acceptable scores for handicap purposes. This means that scores returned in our Saturday and Sunday Winter League medals will not automatically count towards your handicap. Want your round to count towards your handicap? Players who would like their round to count for handicap purposes can still submit a General Play score. If you wish to do this, you must: - Register your intention to submit a General Play score before starting your round. - Submit your score through HowDidiDo (HDiD) or the Scottish Golf app after your round. Winter League handicap allowance In previous winters, we manually adjusted handicaps for the Winter League. This was a time-consuming process and added unnecessary administration. For the 2026/27 Gents Winter League, we will instead use a 90% handicap allowance, which will be calculated automatically by the competition system. This works in a similar way to our summer medals, where a 95% allowance is applied. New for this winter: Saturday Stroke Play and Sunday Stableford As we will now be using Club Systems to calculate Winter League results, we can also introduce different scoring formats across the weekend: - Saturday Winter Medals – Stroke Play - Sunday Winter Medals – Stableford Winter League Rules The full rules for the 2026/27 Winter League can be viewed using the link below: Winter League 26-27 Rules We encourage everyone taking part in the Winter League to familiarise themselves with the rules before playing. We hope these changes make the Winter League simpler to administer, easier for players to understand and give everyone a little more variety across the winter season. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback, and we look forward to another enjoyable Winter League. Kind regards, Stuart
