Notice for all members: Winter Tees from November
Winter Golf
The Greens Committee and Operating Company have agreed that the following tees will be in place from the 1st November: • White tees will remain in operation while the course conditions permit and may be used for general play handicap rounds so that members have a choice of tees • Yellow tees will be in play for all competitions, e.g. Mixed Winter League, Singles Knockout, Seniors Winter League • Yellow tees may also be used for general play handicap rounds • Yellow tee markers may be relocated to viable adjacent ground or/and mats used so that the normal teeing areas can recover and undergo improvement work These options will give the greenkeeping staff the opportunity to irrigate and renovate yellow tee boxes that have experienced heavy usage during the summer. Please note that temporary adjustments may be made during the winter season and are not anticipated to pose a major problem for members. Please also note the following winter condition rules will be in operation for simplicity of decision-making and to help members keep up the pace of play with the guidance on the scorecard: • Preferred lies (MLR E-3) • Cleaning the ball, e.g. clean, lift & replace when using preferred lies (MLR E-2) • Embedded ball, e.g. free relief if a ball is plugged in its own pitch mark in the general play area, e.g. fairways, rough and semi-rough, natural or landscaped vegetation not marked as a penalty area, teeing areas other than the teeing area you must play from in starting the hole (Rule 16.3). NB. Bunkers are not part of the general play area Finally, the 7th hole will revert back to normal playing conditions during the winter as the fairways soften, e.g. there will be no relief without penalty available for a drive that hits the fairway and then runs into the deep rough or down the bank on the left side of the fairway.
